Hoppy Easter!

Posted on Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Holidays are a lot more fun with a baby.  I was excited to put together an Easter basket for Hudson (and Jason), but I didn't expect him to love it so much!  We put the little bunny ears on him and he giggled with delight!  We set the basket in front of him and one by one he took each item out, examining each plastic egg and little toy.

I made him a polka dot, yellow bow tie to go along with the outfit for Grandma bought him for church.  What a cute baby I have!

(We spent forever trying to get him to smile for the picture above and he was too distracted.  Finally Jason said, "Hudson, smile!"  And he gave us this one quick smile.  Don't you love those little teeth!?)

Remembering Grandpa Hal

Posted on Monday, April 8, 2013

My Grandpa Hatch passed away a while ago, and he is so missed.

I will always remember him as one of the most healthful people I know, showing up for his weekend trips with a box full of supplements, and showing us his funky crystals.  I remember being so impressed by my Grandpa running the St. George marathon.  Every time I see the red rocks of the St. George desert I will think of being a kid and finding fire ant hills and lizards in his yard.  Jason will miss their conversations about guns and science.

We traveled down to St. George to say our goodbyes.  Our family stayed in a charming old manor and enjoyed the warm weather.  The funeral was on a beautiful day, until the graveside where a chilly wind blew and blew.  There were jokes that this was Grandpa's doing, as he hated standing around these sorts of things ;)  So it was short and sweet, the wind whistled and blew as guns were shot and a bugle played in salute to his time served in Germany, a flag was handed to my mom, and sweet words were said.

Even though he was gone so unexpectedly, he lived a good life and didn't have to deal with those doctors he claimed were so full of Bologna :)  Although he will be missed here and now, I feel him watching over my family and someday will see him again.
