SLC's Fashion Night Out 2012

Posted on Sunday, September 16, 2012

Last night I had the fun opportunity to style hair with the salon at Fashion Night Out.  I love doing hair for these sorts of things, it allows my to be creative in ways I don't normally get to be in the salon.  Plus, doing hair for a runway show was on my list of things to do as a hairstylist back when I was in hair school.  I feel I can now say my list is complete, something I feel few can say! I still have so much more I can accomplish, I think it is time to make a new goal list!

We did Hair for Mary Rino, a bridal designer who makes gorgeous romantic gowns.  We set hair in curls and weaved hair into big romantic dutch braids.  The green room was crowded with models, makeup artists, hairstylists and photographers all elbowing their ways around each other to finish the looks.

As we sat in the middle of the Gallivan Center waiting for the first runway show to begin, we people watched and were fascinated with how many interesting people were gathered to one place.  I began to get a sense of what it would be like to be at the Capitol in the Hunger Games.  People with hair every color of the rainbow wandered around, hairstylists with crazy (ugly) haircuts and black clothing liberally applied hairspray to models hair, people sat around dressed as if they had stepped out of every era possible. (Bettie Page you're real cute.)  As fun as it was, at the same time it was a little silly.  We all try too hard to impress each other...

Things to do in SLC; Trolley Square Area

Posted on Sunday, April 17, 2011

It is always so exciting to have to occasional Saturday off, it means me and Jason get a whole day together to do fun things!  This Saturday I decided we should walk around Trolley Square, I hadn't been there in years, and let me tell you, there isn't much to do at Trolley Square besides eat.  Eat great food though!  I think that may have to do with the sad shooting that happened there a few years ago.

Here is what we did at (more like across the street from) Trolley Square

Buy yummy candy at the London Market.
(I prefer a Lions bar)  My friend Ashley and I used to come here in Hair School and stock up on chocolate, the prices have gone up since then, but it is a fun little shop to wander around in.  I even match!

Eat At Tucci's Cucina Italiana.
We had a groupon here, I love groupon it is a great way to try new places!  And Tucci's is a winner! I love that all the waiters there were Italian. Great food, and cheap lunch prices.  (But am I the only one who thinks that $3.00 is a bit pricey for a fountain drink?  Without refills?)

City Geocaching
Jason and I both like geocaching, but have you ever thought to geocache around your city?
Of course I'm not going to tell you where this one is, but download the iPhone app and try to find some close to you!

Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!

Posted on Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Minus the Lions & Bears, (and penguins...)
But Hogle Zoo DID have Owls!!! Two Kinds!

Saturday Jason and went to the zoo!  It was such a beautiful fall day, it was great to be outside and see all the animals.

I think we both loved the monkeys, this lady by us had her purse stuffed full of nuts and kept feeding them, so we stuck by her for a while.  I don't think I realized that tigers were so big!  They were playing with pumpkins and reminded me of real cats, just deadly ones.  But I know Kitty would eat me alive if she could.  The only difference is that tigers are so much bigger!

On Friday night my parents gave us their extra basketball tickets and we got to go watch the BYU vs. BYUH game, which wasnt much of a game, but we still had a ton of fun.  We both miss Provo, it is nice to see familiar faces around.  My mom also got us tickets to this next upcoming game, so we are excited for that too!
