Yellowstone

Posted on Saturday, November 8, 2014

Prepare yourself for this post.  I am about to dump a bajillion pictures on you from a vacation that happened months ago. But I love these pictures and I loved this trip, so....

This summer we went on a weekend trip to Yellowstone.  It was so much fun! I love Yellowstone! Since we were only there for a few days we spent most of our time driving, and driving, and driving, trying to see as much as possible.  Hudson surprisingly handled this so well! Our main goal was to see a ton of wildlife and we were not disappointed.

We loved that there were bison everywhere, in our campsite on the roads, everywhere.  Note below the guy getting way to close for a selfie.

Old Faithful kind of ended up being one of our least favorite attractions, it was neat, but there were so many people there.  The hot springs were all so neat, poor color blind Jason couldn't see all the cool colors though.  The rainbow smoke from the spring above was awesome!

Guys, we saw a bear! We were so excited because that is the one thing we wanted to see, and it was even a grizzly.  It may look far away in the picture but when an animal is that massive there is no way we would want to be any closer.  There were so many times we saw people getting way to close to wildlife, and this was one of those times.  Nobody was hurt of course, but once we saw the bear running towards a few loud people, we were out of there real fast.

Can I just live in Yellowstone all summer?  It is so gorgeous. We ended our little trip with a picnic by the lake, watching a couple lone boats with Hudson. I hope we can make this trip a yearly thing, because I feel like there is so much more to do and see there!

Our Own Deadliest Catch Adventure

Posted on Monday, May 2, 2011

Last Easter Weekend Jason and I were Lucky enough to go to Portland with my family.  We had so much fun and did so much!  I love visiting Portland, there is so many interesting people and so many interesting things to do.

Our first day there we began our adventure to the Coast to go crabbing.  We drove to the coast on winding, narrow roads, passing tall green forests of pine trees and the scenic views of Oregon farmland. My stomach was churning by the time we reached the small dock.  But while my Grandma and Mom waited patiently for us on the dock we made our way out onto the choppy waters of a windy bay, lined with pine trees and sandy shores dotted with sunbathing seals and sun-bleached driftwood.

My sister in law, Amy, and I were the picture-takers in the bow of the small aluminum boat.  My Dad drove while Jason and my brother Ryan set and pulled up the crab traps.  We caught only one crab.  Crabs have to be of a certain size and you can only keep males.  I almost felt bad because we interrupted him having a nice dinner, he was still chomping on some rotting fish guts.

A couple hours on the water was enough for me, and Jason & Ryan were soaking wet with salt water, they were devoted though and kept crabbing off the dock.  Luckily my Dad saved the day and came prepared with plenty of dry clothes!  Our crab along with a couple others we bought were cooked up and the dock and after some seafood at a oyster factory, we were beck to my Grandma's house.

In my past I have not particularly loved crab, but I was brave and tried some, and it's not that bad! I wasn't as brave as Jason who ate the heart, and some of the rotting fish bait, but I like to pretend that didn't happen.  After helping cracking a couple crab I legs I decided crabs are the spiders of the sea and pretty much creep me out.    (Until I found there are real sea-spiders, eek!)

We had fun!  I think Jason's jeans still smell fishy, but it was worth it.  More blogging of our Portland adventures to come!

Introducing...

Posted on Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Our new little baby Tilly!

We got a new kitten! She is cute and cuddly, and Jason exclaimed to her the other day, "it's frustrating how cute you are!"

There has been many blog worthy events going on lately, but I couldn't find the cameras, and then I couldn't find the sd card converter, thus the lack of posts.  I feel like i cannot post without pictures, so I haven't.  The cat is the only thing I have a picture of, and the most exciting new thing in our lives at the moment, as for the rest of the pictures which haven't made their way to the computer yet, hopefully I will get them on here shortly!

Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!

Posted on Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Minus the Lions & Bears, (and penguins...)
But Hogle Zoo DID have Owls!!! Two Kinds!

Saturday Jason and went to the zoo!  It was such a beautiful fall day, it was great to be outside and see all the animals.

I think we both loved the monkeys, this lady by us had her purse stuffed full of nuts and kept feeding them, so we stuck by her for a while.  I don't think I realized that tigers were so big!  They were playing with pumpkins and reminded me of real cats, just deadly ones.  But I know Kitty would eat me alive if she could.  The only difference is that tigers are so much bigger!

On Friday night my parents gave us their extra basketball tickets and we got to go watch the BYU vs. BYUH game, which wasnt much of a game, but we still had a ton of fun.  We both miss Provo, it is nice to see familiar faces around.  My mom also got us tickets to this next upcoming game, so we are excited for that too!

And So The Deer Lived

Posted on Friday, October 29, 2010

Last weekend Jason got to go camping with my dad, his friend, and my brother Tyler out in Ephraim. Despite the fact it was freezing cold, and wouldn't stop snowing/raining/hailing, he had a blast!  Luckily, the bad weather resulting in the deer hiding, and no dead deer.  Jason didn't even get to draw a tag this year, so I didn't have to worry about him  bringing one home anyways, but I was still glad no one got one. He got a lot of great pictures, here a few of the best. They came home pretty muddy.

Also, I had to add this song....my thoughts exactly!

I went to spend the weekend with my mom.  It was a lot of fun spending time together.  We did a lot of shopping, which I haven't got to do for a while, and got some great deals.
Including a coffee table!  We picked up this coffee table from DI and spray painted it like crazy. It turned out really cute!

I will post pics of it in the apartment soon.  Our apartment is starting to look really cute!  With a lot of help from my mom, it is finally starting to feel like a home!
