Happy Love Day

Posted on Thursday, February 10, 2011

In honor of the fact that Valentines Day is going to be here so soon, please download and listen to this song a million times, because I can't stop listening to it.  And didn't you know Alex Ebert is the lead singer from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, who sing this song, which is also awesome, no matter how many times I hear it.

And aren't these the cutest?

It is unfortunate that we are so poor this Valentines Day, does anyone have any cheap romantical date ideas? Hopefully Jason can still pick me up some flowers, at least a carnation?  When we were first married and Jason was making all sorts of money working for a trucking company he would sometimes surprise me on his way home with a rose wrapped up in brown paper and the cutest ribbons from Roots downtown, but unfortunately those days are just a memory now.  Its ok because I got an awesome early Valentines present, she is a cat and her name is Tilly :)

A Very Tacky Christmas

Posted on Monday, December 20, 2010

Tacky Glue that is!  Because I have been covered in it from making these...

Handmade bows and glittery labels.  You know that joke about glitter being the herpes of all craft supplies?  Jason has repeated that joke a few times, because it is EVERYWHERE! And impossible to get rid of.

And for your listening enjoyment... some of my favorite christmas tunes!  Because I love love, love my christmas music.

Jason hand sewed this ornament.  Which now serves as our tree topper, along with a ribbon tied around a rose Jason gave me when we first moved into our apartment.
But you see, these are very special handmade ornaments. My mom made ornaments from this fabric in the 70's for my parent's first Christmas.  She found extra fabric and gave it to me to adorn our first christmas tree!  So we hand sewed them and stuffed them with cotton balls, (for lack of any other stuffing...)
Isn't Jason such a good sport for sewing these with me!?

And I must tell you about our Christmas Tree!

We took a long time to finally get our Christmas tree.  Finally Jason took me to get our tree, which I had been looking forward to doing since Thanksgiving, with a Home Depot wedding gift card.  The awesome guy helping us find a tree gave us a tag to the cheapest tree in the lot and told us he would hook us up with a nicer one, and the guy inside gave us $10 off!  Talk about Christmas spirit!  I think they could sense our poor newlywed-ness.
We came looking for a 3 foot tree and left with a 6 foot tree tied to the top of my little car.  The best part was when we had to climb thru our windows as Walmart to buy a tree stand because our doors were tied shut.  We felt pretty white-trash, but hey, it's Walmart afterall.

I am so excited Christmas is here!

And So The Deer Lived

Posted on Friday, October 29, 2010

Last weekend Jason got to go camping with my dad, his friend, and my brother Tyler out in Ephraim. Despite the fact it was freezing cold, and wouldn't stop snowing/raining/hailing, he had a blast!  Luckily, the bad weather resulting in the deer hiding, and no dead deer.  Jason didn't even get to draw a tag this year, so I didn't have to worry about him  bringing one home anyways, but I was still glad no one got one. He got a lot of great pictures, here a few of the best. They came home pretty muddy.

Also, I had to add this song....my thoughts exactly!

I went to spend the weekend with my mom.  It was a lot of fun spending time together.  We did a lot of shopping, which I haven't got to do for a while, and got some great deals.
Including a coffee table!  We picked up this coffee table from DI and spray painted it like crazy. It turned out really cute!

I will post pics of it in the apartment soon.  Our apartment is starting to look really cute!  With a lot of help from my mom, it is finally starting to feel like a home!
