Lava Hot Springs

Posted on Tuesday, July 5, 2011

To celebrate the fourth Jason & I went on a last minute trip with our good friends Danny & Aly to our favorite summer camping spot Lava Hot Springs.  We camped with the masses at Smith's Trout Haven, where we slept in our new green tent and braved some of the smelliest port-a-potties one has ever seen.

We tried a new twist on the roasted mallow and sacrificed little pink peeps over the flames instead.  Very appropriate for July I think.

Besides enjoying the hot springs and the boys floating the cold river, we found an awesome field of purple flowers on the way to visit Jason's Grandma.  It made me wish I had makeup on and a cute summer dress instead of my swimsuit!  Idaho is full of so many great rustic photography sites!

I love lava, hopefully we can make it back soon!

You're A Grand Old Flag!

Posted on Monday, July 4, 2011

I think if you ask almost anyone they would agree the Fourth of July is one of the best Holidays!
What is there not to love?  Summer, No-work, America, Blowing stuff up....Yeah!!!
We were lucky enough to get to go to the stadium of fire this year.  Every year living in Provo we would sit outside and watch fireworks outside the stadium, usually on the roof of the riv....and they are so much more exciting inside!   Jason was bashing and bashing Utah's fireworks, but now that he saw the whole sheBANG, he thinks Utah is a whole lot cooler.  My  parents were supposed to come with us, but unfortunately my mom wasn't feeling too great, so we got to bring Danny and Aly instead.
And you know, i wasn't all that excited for Brad Paisley, but I actually had a ton of fun listening to him!  Jason looooves Brad!  David Archeleta was also adorably awkward as well.

My favorite part was the parachuters :)

Right  now we just got back from Lava Hot Springs (post to come).  We are exhausted and spending our fourth of July evening on the couch.   Once the sun goes down we will make our way up to the parking lot and watch other people's newly legal fireworks in the valley and maybe a few of our own.

Dillon Beach & San Francisco

Posted on Monday, October 18, 2010

This Fall we went on a trip to our friend Vanessa's family's beach house at Dillon Beach in Northern California.  It was a while ago, but as per request I thought it would be fun to still post about it!
Me and Jason were expecting a sunny, warm beach, but it was more like a cold northwest beach.  It was really pretty and we still had a lot of fun despite the cold weather!

Despite the freezing cold water Jason still hoping to go surfing, but had to settle for Boogie-Boarding with our friend Ben instead.
We laid out and tried to get some sun!

One of the nights we went bowling, which was some what of an adventure, the gps led us to someones house instead of a bowling alley, but eventually we found it.

On our last day we decided to make the drive to San Francisco. Me and Jason love San Francisco, but we still didn't get to walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, something we have always wanted to do, but we had fun doing everything else.  We watched the seals, went to Ghirardelli Square and got a treat, and wandered around the windy pier.

We love California, and had such a fun time with everyone. Nothing beats playing cards all night at a beach house!  We can't wait to visit again!

I Have Been A Horrible Blogger.

Posted on Friday, October 15, 2010

It's true.  I haven't posted in sooo long!  And I don't even have the excuse of being extremely busy.  So here is some of the fun things we have been up to in the past weeks...

The BYU football game with my parents.  We were lucky enough to get tent tickets!!!! The tent is a magical, air-conditioned place with tons of yummy BYU catering food before the game, and treats at half-time and after the game.  The marching band and cheerleaders even come perform a song!
The east side is not the best side of the stadium when  the sun is shining.

Yummy gluten free pizza from Spaghetti Mamma's.  Jason said it is comparable to NY pizza.  And Sour Straws and Coke and the sneak peek of The Social Network.  (I won us tickets at the Dew Tour!)  We really liked the movie!

Watching a very disappointing BYU vs USU football game at Danny & Aly's.

Listening to Conference at temple square.  (We have to give talks on Sunday on our favorite talks, I am already really nervous!!!)

Attending the first ever Gluten Free expo and sampling a ton of yummy gluten free treats.

Spotting funny License Plates.

Lava Hot Springs

Posted on Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Me and Jason have been really lucky lately and have got to take so many fun trips since we have been dating. Especially this summer! A few weekends we took a fun little trip with our good friends Danny & Aly to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Jason's mom grew up in Soda Springs which is nearby and we thought it would be a nice little camping trip and a good chance to visit his grandma. We didnt expect to have so much fun in such a little town!

The first thing we did was rent this 4 person tube and float the river. It was a blast! We really only had one minor problem when we crashed into a rock, but everyone floating by kept commenting on how we were too dry and were lucky we hadn't flipped, i was happy about that even if jason wasn't. Things like that are "fun" to him?

That night we went to the hot springs. They are HUGE and have different pools ranging from hot to really really hot. I love hot springs and hot tubbing so i could've stayed forever!

The next day we went to Soda Springs to visit Jason's cute grandma. We also stopped by "the fountain of youth". It is a natural spring which is carbonated! It taste pretty gross though. You can stop by it in the Oregon Trail Game :)
Jason stuck his head in...

This last weekend we went again with our friends Micah & Louisa. Both our cameras were dead so we 'it, but we will remember it forever :)
It was fun, but unfortunately the weather wasn't quite as warm and we ended up leaving a night early. We went tubing again and it was a bit too cold for me, especially after we tipped in the same place we almost died last time and soaking wet in freezing cold water! (Jason enjoyed it) So i sat out the next couple of runs, and apparently they had a disaster and tipped again, but at least the water was warmer that time according to them!

So we discovered a new little weekend getaway! Cant wait until next summer when we can go again!
